September 2006
I trust that all you who are educators have had a smooth start to your new year or new semester, and that the transition from summer, with its varying amounts of free time and relaxation, to work was not too difficult a task.
The new CSEA / Sax Canada Award: “The Canadian Art Educator of the Year Award”
Thank you to those of you who submitted nominations for the new award that was established at last year’s Conference in Edmonton, the “Canadian Art Educator of the Year Award”, a partnership between the CSEA and Sax Canada.
Nominations have been received from several provinces, specifically British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, and Ontario. The recipient of this award will be announced at the upcoming Conference in Winnipeg on November 23 – 25. Plan to attend the CSEA Lunch event on the Saturday at which both this award, and the Provincial Affiliate Awards will be presented.
CSEA Provincial Affiliate Awards.
This is a reminder that the deadline for submitting nominations for the CSEA Provincial Affiliate Awards is September 30 th. Several years ago, a single province submitted a nomination for this award. Two years ago, there were two nominations, and last year, three provinces received awards, British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario. It would be great to see Affiliate Awards being presented to more provinces this year. The nomination process is not difficult or excessively time-consuming. Information about this award and the nomination form can be found on the CSEA Website. In addition to this award being a good opportunity to acknowledge a deserving art educator, it is also a good opportunity for art advocacy through media announcements and other profiles.
